Feeling nervous is a totally normal experience the week before your SAT or ACT! Some nervous energy can actually be a good thing and can help you stay focused on test day. There are things you can do to channel that energy and feel more prepared for the big day.
Get lots of sleep.
It’s common for students to be under-rested, so make a point to get your sleep schedule on track the week of the test. Go to bed early, avoid mentally stimulating media before bed, and wake up around the time you’ll need to on test day. This is especially important the night before your test.
Be prepared
Gather the materials you need for test day (pencils, ID, admission ticket, calculator, etc.) so you’re not feeling stressed right before your test. Preparing ahead of time is one of the best ways to test day anxiety.
Review, but don’t cram.
You’ve been preparing for this test for a while now, so there is no need to cram during the final week. However, it’s a great time to review! Spend 30 minutes per day reviewing your math and grammar rules and refreshing your techniques and strategies. Take a break from studying the night before your test.
Get good nutrition.
Eat a healthy, balanced diet the week before your test. It is especially important to eat a nutritious breakfast the morning of your exam (do not skip breakfast). Food with protein, fruit, and healthy carbs will help you stay energized and focused during the test.
